John Maher has been a professional artist for over 40 years. Starting at the age of thirteen he began a career as a mural artist and has painted the walls of numerous homes, schools and businesses across the Southeast. After receiving a Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree from Florida State University he attended The Scottsdale Artists school
John Maher has been a professional artist for over 40 years. Starting at the age of thirteen he began a career as a mural artist and has painted the walls of numerous homes, schools and businesses across the Southeast. After receiving a Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree from Florida State University he attended The Scottsdale Artists school where he focused on realistic oil painting and bronze sculpture. Through the years, his style has evolved into a more painterly style that he calls loose realism.

I use many different mediums, such as clay, oil paint, and art glass in my work. I believe that working in a single medium is restrictive to my artistic process. Each medium manifests in its own individual fine artist style.

As a longtime resident of Destin, Florida I enjoy many of the benefits of living on the Emerald Coast. Scuba diving and frequent trips to the beach, Kayaking and observing nature influences the majority of my work.
